Contexts
What is the Context feature?
The Context feature establishes the technical connection between the Pier Cloud Platform and Cloud Providers (AWS, Azure, GCP, OCI).
Within a Context, we configure Data Connectors, which define the instructions for collecting billing files, usage metrics, and resource inventory.
Each Organization can have multiple contexts (e.g., one AWS context and one Azure context).
When accessing the Organization's contexts screen, you can view existing contexts or create a new one.
To add a new context, click "Add" and select the desired provider (AWS, Azure, GCP, OCI).
When adding a new Context, you will need to fill in the following information:
Cost Source: Select the cloud provider or cost and usage data source to be used (e.g., AWS, Azure, GCP).
Name: Once the cost source is selected, a default name will be set for the context. Depending on the configuration, this name can be edited for easier identification.
Currency: Select the currency option that will be visually applied to the context.
Available Actions
The system allows you to perform management actions for each Context registered in the list:
Remove By clicking the Trash icon, you can remove the registered Context.
The system will display a message to confirm the deletion. Once the confirmation checkbox is checked, the button to complete the action will be enabled, returning you to the main screen after the deletion.
Edit By clicking the Pencil icon (Edit), the system will open a screen allowing you to modify basic information, such as:
Currency: If you wish to change the currency display formatting.
Set Main Context By clicking the Cloud/Star icon (Cloud Accounts / Main Context), the system allows you to set this context as the Main one.
What this means: Once the main context is set, all users in that Organization logging into the platform will automatically view data from this context (Dashboard, Reports) as the default initial view.
